text2quit (USA)

Description:

text2quit offers support to individuals trying to quit smoking via a system of interactive, personalised text-messages. During registration you provide personal details relating to your reasons for quitting smoking, money you will save through quitting, your social support, triggers for smoking and your use of smoking medications. You then receive tailored text messages, before and after your quit date, aimed at improving self-efficacy for quitting, describing outcome expectations, increasing perceived social support, modelling effective quitting strategies and coping skills. You are also prompted to interact with the program by sending text messages. Additionally, the program includes an accompanying website with information and resources for quitting smoking and you also receive emails which reiterate and expand on ideas included in the more regular text messages. Access to the program is available for a fee to residents of the USA.
