InternetPsykiatri for Hypochondria (Sweden)

Description:

The InternetPsykiatri for Hypochondria program is a 12 week course based on principles of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). Treatment consists of extensive self-help material in addition to email support from a therapist. The program begins with an introduction to hypochondria and CBT treatment, and describes how your thoughts, behaviours, and anxieties contribute to perpetuating the problem. Throughout weeks 1 to 3 you will complete a behaviour log, describing what you do or do not do in order to reduce or avoid anxious feelings about your health. Weeks 3 and 4 focus on identifying and re-evaluating negative thoughts. Weeks 4 to 12 involves staged exposure to situations you have avoided because of your health anxiety. The last 2 weeks also involve working on stress management and finding a way to deal with setbacks. You will need to devote at least 1 hour a day to the program over the 12 week period.
