Outcome Summary:

An initial pilot study examined the efficacy of ONESELF among the Italian speaking population in Switzerland. This study involved an early version of the program, targeted specifically at individuals affected by low back pain. Participants were assigned (but not randomised) to either a control or intervention group. Intensity of back pain reported by patients appeared to decrease among the intervention group, but not the control group and there were indications the intervention group were also exercising more and taking pain killers less. However, no tests of statistical significance were reported and as such these findings remain inconclusive.

The additional paper cited below describes the development of the new version of the ONESELF program, including content specifically targeted at individuals with fibromyalgia syndrome and an evaluation of its feasibility and usefulness.
